Thank you to all of you who PM'd me and gave me ideas to ponder as to where
the little birdies have gone. To clarify, I wasn't worried about them - I
know they are smart little fellas and gals - just curious and missing all
the activity. Here's one explanation that I received right off and it made
much sense to me - along with the others re: abundance of flowers/nectar at
this time of year:

"Mt meadows. Regular upslope movement in mid-summer. The alpine flowers are
blooming, and it beats the heat. Then fairly soon fall migration starts,
from mountain top to mountain top."

I love the imagery of all the tiny hummingbirds flying from mountain top to
top all the way down the Cascades to Mexico or wherever they end up for the
winter.

Thanks again!

Suzanne
