Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 9. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The REDSTART continues on the North spit of Coos Bay. It is being seen
across from the boat ramp. On July 5 a CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD visited a feeder
in Eugene. A NIGHTHAWK is apparently summering in the Orenco area east of
Hillsboro.

Most reports this week involved to heavy shorebird movement arriving during
the week. At the Fern Ridge Reservoir July 3 was a flock of 2200 WESTERN
SANDPIPERS that included six SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS. Other shorebirds noted
were 300 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 100 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, two LESSER YELLOWLEGS,
and 22 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS. 200 WESTERN SANDPIPERS on the beach at
Florence July 8.
