Hi Tweets,

While I was trying to fall asleep last night, I heard a kind of hissing
call. After hearing it a few more times, I jumped up and went to my open
sliding door. It was just after midnight. It was nice and quiet outside for
a change - no train or plane noise. I heard the hissing several times over
a period of about ten minutes. The sound seemed to come from some trees
very close by. I watched for any movements, but saw none. I had never heard
a barn owl but it was the first and only thing that I thought it could be.
I think there may have been two. I live next to Camp Long.

I did see a barn owl once at Discovery Park, but am not aware of sightings
near Camp Long. It was pretty exciting to listen to! Wish I could have
recorded it.
