Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 30. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was heard July 26 along the Columbia Slough in North
Portland. It has not been relocated.

Huge numbers of SOOTY SHEARWATERS are now being seen about the mouth of the
Columbia River. On July 23 a RUDDY TURNSTONE was with a flock of BLACK
TURNSTONES at the Cove in Seaside. A WILLET was seen July 29 on the beach at
Bandon.

On July 25 a BREWER?S SPARROW was at Steigerwald NWR. A RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE was seen July 25 at Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland. Up to
97 GREAT EGRETS were there July 22. On July 23 two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS
were with a shorebird flock on Broughton Beach in North Portland. A
LONG-BILLED CURLEW was there July 28. On July 29 a FRANKLIN?S GULL was at
Fern Ridge Reservoir near Eugene.
