The singing adult male DICKCISSEL was at its regularly reported location
from 9:45 to at least 10:15 this morning (Sunday) at Hardy Canyon, Yakima
County. As previously described, look for the yellow ribbon on the dead
sage on the right side of the road about 50 yards beyond the second parking
area (on the left) which is roughly 1/4 mile after the bridge. It was
singing from atop several non-sage bushes and eventually seemed to favor a
bush in the back left corner of the area to the left of a couple of distant
no trespassing signs. As Tom Mansfield posted earlier, access to the area
is through the second access point to Hardy Canyon when coming from the
south. The gate has a Great Washington State Birding Trail - Sun and Sage
Loop sign on it. This was my first trip to this area and it won't be my
last.

The first Hardy Canyon access point coming from the south had
Yellow-breasted Chats all over the place as well as many Common Nighthawks
flying overhead.

Thanks to three birders (including Henry from Centralia) who were leaving
the area when I was coming in who gave me precise directions and a big
thanks to all in tweeter land who have posted their positive results in
seeing this bird. This made for a great diversion on my trip to Billings,
MT for the WFO meeting.
