Just woke up at 2:40am to the chittering sounds of Violet-green Swallows coming through my open bedroom window, the earliest I've heard them so far this year. Of course it's nearing Solstice, and day starts early now, but these were real Star Swallows, calling in the dark - no sign of dawn visible, at least to my human eyes.
