Thanks Dennis Paulson for the education on raptor crops!

Curiously, out of the tens of thousands of raptors I?ve observed in my lifetime, I?ve only seen this extruded crop on crested caracaras?three different times.

I wonder if the diet, frequency of feeding, style of feeding, stance when viewed, or just a species-specific physiology makes this more apparent on caracaras
