Subject: [Tweeters] Monthly birdwalk - Joint Base Lewis McChord Eagles Pride
Date: Jun 18 20:34:43 2015
From: Denis DeSilvis - avnacrs4birds at outlook.com
Tweeters,
Nineteen of us followed a slightly modified route from usual due to plant
growth in one area. Highlights include a very well seen/heard MACGILLIVRAY'S
WARBLER just beyond the pond at hole #12 and a similarly heard/seen HERMIT
WARBLER in the trees around the tee box on hole #13. The latter species was
extremely vocal, and ranged all around that area (and us) for the entire
time we were there (we had to let a golfer through, so had quite a bit of
time). Everyone got a good view of the bird, which could be nesting nearby.
Note: This was one of only two times we didn't see Red Crossbills on the
walk.
The JBLM Eagles Pride GC birders meet the third Thursday of each month at
8:00AM. Starting point is Bldg # 1514, Driving Range Tee, Eagles Pride Golf
Course, I-5 Exit 116, Mounts Road Exit. Upcoming walks include the
following:
. July 16
. August 20
. September 17
Anyone is welcome to join us!
