Sherry and I hiked the short, but steep trail to the top of Wind Mountain in Skamania County. We perched ourselves on the east side facing Dog Mountain, which was also the alee side. We spent about 2 and 1/2 hours just relaxing and watching and listening to HERMIT WARBLERS. During our time on the mountain, a glint of white caught our eyes by Dog Mountain. At first we thought they were gulls, but no. They were much larger and had the black in the wings. Six AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were soaring through and up. They went over Dog Mountain and headed east along the Columbia River. Here?s our list for the hike.

Sooty Grouse 1
American White Pelican 6
Turkey Vulture 1
Bald Eagle 1
Steller's Jay 5
Common Raven 1
Violet-green Swallow 13
Chestnut-backed Chickadee 9
Swainson's Thrush 1
MacGillivray's Warbler 4
Hermit Warbler 6
Spotted Towhee 1
Dark-eyed Junco 6
Western Tanager 2
