Hey all....I was finally able to get out in my neck of the woods, with a 15
year old girl who I am mentoring in photography as well as birding. We
were able to locate some nice birds, up near Coplay Lake (the road After
Summit Lake Trailhead)....Red Eyed Vireos, and all the regular goodies,
that we get this time of year in that area. We stopped at a small pool,
that had a bit of running water, just to see what would happen. While
doing the Pygmy Owl call, a Barred Owl responded, and then a few minutes
later we heard a Red Naped Sapsucker calling. Finally located it, and the
possible nest sight. I posted a not good photo on my flickr, as I don't
know how rare this bird is in this location. I found the three toed
woodpecker up at Mowich Lake while hiking a number of years ago, so, I
think I will do a lot more exploring in these areas this summer, since its
pretty close to where I live...
Happy Birding,
Vicki Biltz
