A coopers hawk has discovered that the small artificial stream in my garden
is a favorite bird bath. It has become a kill zone for Robins. The hawk
flies in from the forest side generally perches in the adjacent cedar tree,
waits, then stoops and snatches a robin. I have seen it 3 times now in the
past 5 days and I wonder how many kills I don't see. So far the Robins seem
none the wiser. Which brings up the motto: better dirty than dead.
