Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 5. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The Nestucca NWR Bean Goose was seen again February 26. The Coos Bay
BULLOCK?S ORIOLE and the North Bend HOODED ORIOLE are still being reported.
On March 3 a TENNESSEE WARBLER was in Eugene.

RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS are now in good numbers along the southern Oregon Coast.
A few ALLLEN?S HUMMINGBIRDS are also being seen. The Yaquina Head BURROWING
OWL is still being reported.

Smelt are now surging up the Columbia River attracting large numbers of
gulls and other fish eating species. On February 25, 237 BALD EAGLES were
counted in the trees at the mouth of the Cowlitz River south of Longview. A
flock of 21 BLACK BRANT were on the Columbia River west of Longview. On
March 4 a PIGEON GUILLEMOT was seen flying over the river near Vancouver.

On March 2 a VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW and four CINNAMON TEAL were in Albany. On
March 4 a MACGILLIVRAY?S WARBLER was reported in Eugene.

Up to 62 PINE GROSBEAKS were seen during the week along the Pacific Crest
Trail at Santiam Pass.
