Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 18. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The Nestucca NWR BEAN GOOSE is still being seen.

The main movement of of RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS are now arriving along the south
coast. There appears to be a buildup of migrant shorebirds during the week
including many LEAST and WESTERN SANDPIPERS. The first report of LONG-BILLED
CURLEWS was one at Houston Lake March 12. VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW numbers are
now building.

PINE GROSBEAKS continue to be seen at Santiam Pass. On March 7 several were
calling near Gold Lake at Willamette Pass east of Eugene.

On March 6 one or two SAGEBRUSH SPARROWS were at Steigerwald NWR. Three
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were seen March 10 at the Jackson Bottoms Wetland
in Hillsboro. That day a BURROWING OWL was near Halsey. A PRAIRIE FALCON was
near Tangent March 6.

On March 9 two WILLIAMSON?S SAPSUCKERS were at the Mt. Hood Meadows Ski area
parking lot in the east side Mt. Hood. The Eugene LARK SPARROW continues at
the Shelton High School track. On March 8 a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was
photographed in North Eugene.
