Hello Tweets,
This week I've driven the 520 bridge to work and have been watching the thousands of American Coots which stay mostly to the north side of the bridge. Today I measured the string of birds and they stretched almost one mile across the lake. I've thought of them as staging for migration but they're still here almost to the end of March, which seems past the time for them to move north. I don't remember seeing such a large flock in the past several years and it seems unusual. Does anyone have thoughts or other information about this group? Maybe we should start a pool where folks can pick a date when they'll all take off.
