Lake Sammamish State Park, King, US-WA
Mar 25, 2015 8:04 AM - 12:09 PM
Protocol: Traveling
2.5 mile(s)
Comments: Sharon Aagaard and Stan Wood birded with 5 others at Eastside Audubon's monthly bird walk at Lake Sammamish State Park on March 25, 2015, from 8:00 am to noon. Skies were cloudy, with light rain off and on; 46-58F, 0-3 mph. HIGHLIGHTS: 1 COMMON LOON was seen briefly by two birders; a handful of WESTERN GREBES remain; GREAT BLUE HERONS are sitting on nests, with males continuing to bring sticks to the females; many sightings of both ANNA'S AND RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS; 3 RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS; an immature PEREGRINE FALCON, a MERLIN; several VARIED THRUSH were singing; and both subspecies of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen. 51 species for the day, with 83 for the year. Critters: Eastern Gray Squirrels. The next bird walk is Wednesday, APRIL 29. No pre-registration, just show up depending on your mood or the weather. Since this is a state park, a Discover Pass is necessary to park ($10 daily, $30 annual). We meet in the large parking lot to the left just inside the main park entrance, now signed as the Costco Parking lot, but we meet at the far end towards the lake (not the boat launch entrance).Submitted from BirdLog NA for Android v1.96.
51 species (+3 other taxa)
