Hello Tweeters,

After locating 187th Ave. SE (without first using Google Maps), I spotted a few gulls at the south end of the field to the east. The terrain undulates here, so most birds were at least partially hidden. After they were disturbed and flew up, landing a short distance away, I was fortunate to get good scope views of the Glaucous Gull in its entirety for a couple of minutes, before it again disappeared from view behind a rise. This was around 11:15 am. I left shortly thereafter, but returned after 20 minutes or so, before heading home, to check on the gulls? location. It appeared that the gulls were then, mostly hidden by the terrain, in a dirt field to the south of the previous location, where I could see only two birds partially. The other possibility was that most had left.

I was also lucky to get a couple of minutes? looks at the Black-throated Blue Warbler in Bothell around 9:40 am. I like to bird this way whenever possible, showing up when 4 other birders are on the bird.

Good birding,
