The BTBW was spotted at the previously described location in Bothell at
10:30. It flew into a cedar tree in the neighbor's yard to the right of the
back of the house with the feeders offering excellent views. There were 7
others in the yard at the time. Leaving shortly thereafter, I drove out to
Tualco Road site and found zero gulls in the fields adjacent to and between
the Tualco Loop Road and the Crescent Lake WMA or the sandbar at the end of
the loop road. Upon exiting Tualco Road on the north end, I spied gulls in
a distant newly plowed field near the river almost to Hwy 203. I was able
to get a better scope view of the field by driving into the dead end 193rd
Ave SE (as shown on Google Maps, but signed as Christenson Road). The
Glaucous Gull was easily distinguished from the gray-mantled adult gulls and
other juveniles feeding (approximately 25) by its' solid white feathers
including the mantle, pink bill with black tip, and pink legs. The bird was
too far away to distinguish any eye field marks.
