Is anyone from the Sequim-Port Angeles area planning on attending the Wenas
Audubon Campout in the Wenas Valley, located on the east slope of the
Cascade Mountains
between Ellensburg and Yakima this year from May 22-25? Don't know about
it? It's been an annual event for the whole family for over 50 years. I've
birded the Wenas area once or twice and it's great for birds that we don't
normally see here in my neck of the woods. It's also good for many other
interesting critters and plants, unfamiliar to many folks in the Olympic
Peninsula. Go to their website here:

http://www.wenasaudubon.org

I would like to attend but since I no longer have a car, transportation is
a problem for me. I can help with a modicum amount for gas for the trip to
Wenas and back to the Sequim-Port Angeles area. I would like to give a
nocturnal moth/insect
backlighting demonstration for folks, but am in need of a borrowed portable
generator if anyone is willing to loan me theirs and is amenable to
allowing it in their vehicle (empty) for the trip. Otherwise, I'll just
take one or more of my light traps, but folks wouldn't get to see the
Lepidoptera and other insect orders like they would with a sheet/blacklight
setup.
Light traps pretty much kill indiscriminately whatever falls into them. All
specimens would go to a public museum or educational institution. I do the
same for my collecting permit I've had for Olmypic National Park.

If you, or someone you know, will be attending the campout and are willing
to allow me to tag along from the Sequim-Port Angeles area,, please let me
know asap. You can contact me by email or at (239) 216-6496.

Thanks!

Vince
