hi:

the neighborhood has a new anna's hummingbird fledgling. yesterday evening
junior attempted a novel begging stratagem: perching on the hummingbird
feeder pole and soliciting food from all who ventured by. the ploy was
without success, and as the day grew dim, (s)he took a drink from the
feeder and disappeared into the gloaming.

Seemed like such a good idea . . . ..
