Between noon and 1pm, I was on the western most road on the parade grounds heading north and about 25 yards south of the southern most building. It was in the mixed firs and leafy shrubs on the western edge. It landed on the ground for a bit but flew up to a tree. I noted it had white exterior tail feathers like a junco. At rest I noted white wing bars. Rounded head, smallish beak. It was a little more shy than a robin, I was within 15 feet of it. I know it's a rare species for this area. The white edge tail feathers and size were the clincher when I reviewed my guide books.
