Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 14. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 9 a bright singing HOODED WARBLER was at Moore Park in Klamath Falls.
A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was seen during the week at Coos Bay.

Heavy migrations continued during the week especially among shorebirds. On
May 8 a flock of 33 RED KNOTS and seven RUDDY TURNSTONES were at Tenmile
Creek in north Coos Co. That day 45 WHIMBRELS, 3 RUDDY TURNSTONES, and 11
RED KNOTS were at New River in southern Coos Co. A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER
was in Astoria May 10. A PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was at the Tillamook Airport
May 9.

On May 9 a ROCK WREN was at Coxcomb Hill in Astoria. A MOCKINGBIRD was
photographed May 11 near Newport. On May 9, 29 WESTERN GREBES, four CLARK?S
GREBES and two EARED GREBES were on Vancouver Lake. The BANK SWALLOW colony
on the east side of Sauvie Island is again active this year. On May 9 two
AVOCETS were at Smith Lake in North Portland. An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was
seen May 13 at Commonweath Lake in Beaverton. That day a dark-backed LESSER
GOLDFINCH visited a feeder in Cedar Mill. A group of 13 WHITE PELICANS were
seen May 10 at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove. A male and two female
WILSON?S PHALAROPES were seen during the week at Jackson Bottom in
Hillsboro. On May 9 several BLACK-NECKED STILTS and two CASPIAN TERNS were
at Baskett Slough NWR.

On May 6 a LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at the mouth of Hood River.
