Subject: [Tweeters] Sparrow ID - unnecessary

Thanks to all of you who responded off-line to the below request for a bird ID from me, for once more embarrassing me with the identity of a Song Sparrow for the 4th or 5th time over as many years. This will always be my nemesis bird, no matter how many times I swear I will never, ever again ask for the ID of an unknown sparrow. In my partial and pitiful defense, in Florida where I spent most of my life, we didn't have the color variants of the Northwest, so I guess my reliance on that criteria can be dismissed as useless. From here on out, if I can't ID a sparrow, it goes down as a Song and I move on......! If for some reason I forget this, as I seem to do about many things these days, just ignore any requests from me for ID's of "Sparrow-like" birds or reply "It's one of those." Thanks again.
