Subject: [Tweeters] Clark's/Western Grebe identification help wanted

I've posted a photo of a grebe that looks like the Sibley illustration for
an Adult nonbreeding Clark's Grebe, but it's bill doesn't look bright like
in the Clark's illustration. It looks duller, like the bill of a Western
Grebe. It had a a distinctly narrower black line down the back of the neck
than that on nearby Western Grebes. I saw it in the Columbia River east of
Yakima yesterday. Some of the Western's I saw had bills that appeared quite
bright, and had whitish flanks, but had eyes encircled in black, and
broader black lines down the backs of their necks. I'd appreciate your
thoughts.
