Subject: [Tweeters] Eider and whale info

The continuing KING EIDER was seen right between the Point Ruston boat and
the law office, and was associating with several Red-breasted Mergansers
and an American Wigeon. She was seen at about 11:20 am. Photos here:

The whale was seen at 11:15 only about 200ft from shore, if that. It was in
the same area as the eider. No large dorsal fin seen and it only surfaced
twice. No blowing seen. It appeared grayish with white spots (though these
could be due to barnacles) and appeared maybe 30 to 40 feet in length. Any
whale in Tacoma is a pretty good find and if anyone has thoughts as to the
ID, please let me know! Photo:
