Alison, This is a wonderful time of the year to visit the Ridgefield NWR, but don't expect White Pelicans now There will be hundreds of swans, Sandhill Cranes and thousands of geese and ducks there now. For more information about the refuge and some rules that you need to know, like not getting out of your vehicle on the Auto Tour Route, visit the Refuge website at: http://www.fws.gov/refuge/ridgefield/ For the checklist of some of the birds seen this week by visitors and the volunteers with the Friends of the Ridgefield NWR, go to: http://ridgefieldfriends.org/ Once there click on Weekly Bird Sightings, to see the complete list of the 164 species reported in 2015, click on Compilation of Bird Sightings for 2012 - 2014 Don't miss checking out both the River S Unit (Auto Tour Route), south of Ridgefield, and the Carty Unit north of Ridgefield, where there are walking trails and the Chinookan Plankhouse. Hi Tweets,

My husband and I are beginning birders but enthusiastic. We are thinking of going to the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge this weekend. Any idea if this is a good time of year to go there? Interested in seeing white pelicans and more!

Thanks for your advice,
