I thought it might be productive to go across the river an over to the
North Head Light House to do a bit of sea watching this morning. I
arrived at 08:00. The wind was South at 5-8mph, temp in the low 50's.
The ocean was still pretty stirred up. There was a good sized
southbound PACIFIC LOON movement going on, but I only other notables
were a single DARK-BELLIED SHEARWATER and a BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE. The
North Jetty is still closed.

I spent an hour at Ilwaca Boat Basin were I counted 107 MARBLED GODWITS
and also easily found the BAR-TAILED GODWIT. I don't think the
HUDSONIAN GODWIT has been seen for about a week.

Also 3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and too many ducks...

Then I decided I'd go around to the South Jetty of the Columbia River to
try my luck there. The ocean was just as angry on the Oregon side and I
saw nothing of note on seawatch. However, on the beach I found two
SNOWY PLOVERS (no sign of the 75 Piping Plovers reported yesterday on
eBird). One of the bird was banded the other, unbanded.

The bands do not appear to match any of the birds I reported on 9/3

nor do they match the banded bird seen by Neal Maine on 9/30.

I finished my morning by pointing out to a guy running his dogs in the
South Jetty wetland, that it was wildlife habitat not an off-leash dog
park and that his dogs were required to be on leash at all times. He
showed me that he was carrying a poop-bag then complained about my
attitude...
