Heya Tweets!

Interesting day of birding in Mason County today and one bird was added to my year list.

I started the day birding with MaryFrances Mathis. We tried for meadowlark and pheasant at Theler (both have been seen there in the last week), and failed to turn up either, although a couple of Greater White-fronted Geese and a Long-billed Dowitcher were good finds.

From there we joined Mark Oberle on Treasure (Reach) Island in Case Inlet. He took us on his 17 foot boat down around Hartstene and Squaxin Islands and back. We picked up Brandt's Cormorant and Rhinoceros Auklet in several locations but not the Common Murres that we were both hoping for. From there it was Hinter Farms. We were searching for a White throated sparrow that had been reported. We found a lot of golden-crowned and A single Lincoln's sparrow before MaryFrances left, then the WTSP showed up after she had gone.

I'm at Lake Isabella right now looking for coots that had been reported with no luck.

#%+*!!+# coots!!

The sparrow at any rate brought me to 175 for the year, and we shall be field tripping the county extensively tomorrow.

Happy birding!
