Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 22. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A COMMON GROUND-DOVE was seen October 7 along Driftwood Lane in Yachats. It
continues to be seen. BLACK-VENTED SHEARWATERS are still being seen off
coastal headlands. On October 17 a BROWN BOOBY flew past Cape Perpetua. A
CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR was seen October 16 at Boiler Bay. A possible
JACK SNIPE was reported October 16 from the South Jetty of the Columbia
River.

MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES continue to be reported west of the Cascades. PINE
SISKINS, CROSSBILLS, and EVENING GROSBEAKS also appear to be increasing in
the lowlands. BROWN PELICANS continue along the coast with 70 at Heceta Head
and 460 at Yaquina Bay October 18.

On October 18 a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was photographed at Yaquina Head. The ROCK
WREN on the South Jetty of the Columbia River continues to be seen. On
October 15 a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was at the Fort Stevens Historical Area.

A BLACK BRANT is now at Ridgefield NWR. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen
October 17 at the Steigerwald NWR. Two PYGMY NUTHATCHES are now being seen
in Gabriel Park in SW Portland. On October 17 seven ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were
in the fields west of the Corvallis Airport. A group of GRAY JAYS were
photographed October 11 on Spencer Butte in Eugene. On October 21 six SURF
SCOTERS were on Fords Pond near Roseburg.

On October 18 four SURF SCOTERS, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, and three
BONAPARTE?S GULLS were on Diamond Lake in the Douglas County Cascades. A
LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen October 19 at the Double O Ranch at Malheur NWR.
