Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 29. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER is now being seen near Toledo. It is along
Thornton Creek Road near mailbox 1192. The Yachats GROUND-DOVE continue to
be seen. On October 27 a BROWN BOOBY was at Heceta Head north of Florence.
The Yaquina Bay BROWN BOOTY continues to be seen. Numbers of BLACK-VENTED
SHEARWATERS continue along the coast with over 225 off Flores Lake October
25.

Numerous reports of MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES continue west of the Cascades.
Flocks of PINE SISKINS and RED CROSSBILLS also continue to be reported. On
October 22 a southward movement of SANDHILL CRANES was reported over the
Willamette Valley.

ELEGANT TERNS continue along the coast with 250 at Gold Beach October 15. A
TROPICAL KINGBIRD continues at the Marine Science Center on Yaquina Bay. A
RUFF was reported October 24 at the Nestucca NWR. At Boiler Bay October 26
were four BULLER?S SHEARWATERS, 200 PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATERS, 1200 HERRING
GULLS, 1500 HEERMANN?S GULLS, and a SABINE?S GULL. A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER
and an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was at Gearhart October 27.

The PYGMY NUTHATCH continues at Gabriel Park in SW Portland. A SURF SCOTER
was seen October 22 at the Sheridan Sewage Ponds. A LONG-TAILED DUCK was at
Fern Ridge Reservoir October 22. A NIGHTHAWK was reported October 28 along
Hwy 140 east of Lakecreek in Jackson County.

A report has been received that the three BARNACLE GEESE at the Nestucca NWR
last month had escaped from a farm in the Upper Nestucca Valley.
