I'm planning a day trip up to Whatcom county next week. My main targets
are ducks and sea birds, to add to my Whatcom county list.

I see reports on eBird for Larrabee State Park. I can find the park, and
I have a map of the park, but it isn't clear to me where I can get a view of
the water. I see reference to Clayton Beach, but the park web page
indicates that access to Clayton Beach has been discontinued because of
inadequate sight lines crossing the railroad tracks. Does that mean I can't see
the water from there? Is access to the beach really closed?

It appears there is a boat launch at the end of Cove Road, so that could
be a good spot to see the water, I would think.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to find the best places along Chuckanut
Drive to see birds on the water.
