Hi Tweeters,

I visited Discovery Park (King Co.) this morning, concentrating on looking
for flocks of birds, and covering a good bit of ground - my iPhone says
I've taken over 18,600 steps today! Even without an early start, there
were still pockets of good activity. Highlights among ~66 species:

- Raptors included singles of AMERICAN KESTREL (my first for the park),
Cooper's Hawk, Osprey, and Red-tailed Hawk.
- Sanderling - a baker's dozen at West Point, 12 juvs and an adult.
- Columbids included 1 Eurasian-collared Dove in addition to Band-tailed
and Rock Pigeons; the Mourning Dove from last week was not around to
complete the set.
- Woodpeckers included Pileated, Hairy, and Downy.
- No really rare warblers, but a total of 8 species included 1
MacGillivray's, 2 Common Yellowthroat, and many Black-throated Gray (the
most abundant warbler).
- Sparrows included a CHIPPING, a first-of-fall Lincoln's, and migrant
Savannahs.
- Other songbirds included Willow and Pacific-slope Flycatcher, a
first-of-fall Hermit Thrush, Evening Grosbeak, and possibly-last-of-fall
Purple Martins.
