Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 10. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On September 4 a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was heard calling from the northern
tip of Ross Island in Portland. A CASSIN?S KINGBIRD was reported September 6
near Stateline Road in Lower Klamath NWR. A male HOODED WARBLER was seen
September 5 in Baker City. On September 4 a CURLEW SANDPIPER was at Sand
Lake, south of Tillamook. On September 5 a TENNESSEE WARBLER was at Benson
Pond in Malheur NWR. The next day two NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH were at Fields.

Heavy migrations during the week brought good numbers of WHITE-FRONTED
GEESE, GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS, and FOX SPARROWS. The annual large BARN
SWALLOW roost south of Dayton is now active.

On September 4, 50 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and a RED KNOT were at Coos Bay. A
Possible PYGMY NUTHATCH was reported September 7 at Florence. The Marine
Science Center LARK SPARROW continues at Yaquina Bay. On September 5 a
SCRUB-JAY was at Cape Meares Village. A PACIFIC-GOLDEN-PLOVER was at the
Nehalem Sewage Ponds September 7. That day a LONG-TAILED JAEGER was on the
beach north of Gearhart.

On September 4 a BLACK SWIFT was reported on Sauvie Island. A FRANKLIN?S
GULL was there September 9. The two AVOCETS continue to be seen. Up to 13
COMMON TERNS were at Vancouver Lake during the week. On September 8 a
FORSTER?S TERN was there. A group of SANDHILL CRANES and up to 86 WHITE
PELICANS are now at Ridgefield NWR. Five WHITE PELICANS and 45 GREAT EGRETS
are now at Ankeny NWR. The RUFF continues at Fern Ridge Reservoir. During
the week two AVOCETS, 17 COMMON TERNS, and 136 GREAT EGRETS were there. On
September 9 an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was at the Philomath Sewage Ponds.
During the week two SANDERLINGS and a COMMON TERN were there. A CASSIN?S
FINCH was reported September 4 on Marys Peak in the Coast Range.

On September 6 a LONG-TAILED JAEGER was at Prineville Reservoir.
