Tweets, A single adult ELEGANT TERN was observed Saturday at 2pm high tide at Hoquiam's waterfront about 1/4 mi E of the STP. It was resting on a floating log with many gulls that included mostly California, a few Western and Ring-billed, 2 Mew and 2 Heerman's. Only 4 Caspian Terns were at the STP, down from around 40(?) 5 weeks ago. Between noon and 1:00 the flock of Marbled Godwits grew from ~150 to 4-600. Other shorebirds: Western, Least, Pectoral (3) Sandpipers, Long-billed Dowitcher, Semi-pal Plover (several), Killdeer. A Peregrine Falcon succeeded only in spooking everything. Passerines in the roadside brush: Fox (1, FOF), Song, White-crowned, Savannah Sparrows; Yellowthroat, Yellow-rumped (one male "Myrtle"), Yellow (2), Black-throated Gray (2) Warblers; W Tanager; glimpse of empid. The fog dissuaded me from continuing to Ocean Shores. Good birding!
