I just watched as an Anna?s Hummingbird landed on my freshly tilled garden bed, spread his tiny wings and tail and bask in the sunshine. Of course he flew away before I could grab my camera.

I have observed larger birds doing the same thing on numerous occasions but for some reason I was quite surprised to see a hummingbird down on the ground. Can anyone tell me, is basking common behavior in all species.
