Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 24. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

An offshore boat rip off Coos and Curry Counties September 21 found a
SHORT-TAILED ALBATROSS, two LAYSAN ALBATROSS, two BROWN BOOBIES, and a
HAWAIIAN PETRELT. At Summer Lake Wildlife Area September 20 were a
CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER, and three COMMON TERNS. That day
a HOODED WARBLER and a SABINE?S GULL were at Malheur NWR Headquarters.

Heavy migrations during the week included a major movement of WHITE-FRONTED
GEESE and SWAINSON?S THRUSHES. Good numbers of FOX SPARROWS and FLICKERS
were also reported. Huge numbers of SOOTY SHEARWATERS continue along the
coast.
On September 22 a SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was at the Astoria Airport
Mitigation Area. On September 21 over 600 RED PHALAROPES were off Boiler
Bay. A PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER and a RED KNOT were seen September 19 in the
Umpqua River Estuary. A CATTLE EGRET was seen during the week at the mouth
of the Winchuck River south of Brooking.

On September 23 three COMMON TERNS were at Vancouver Lake. Nine COMMON TERNS
were at Salem September 18.

Two BAND-TAILED PIGEONS and six BLACK SWIFTS were seen September 19 at the
Green Ridge Hawkwatch Station near Camp Sherman.
