Both the birding and the weather have been great the past two days in Neah
Bay. On Friday, 9/25, the biggest highlight was an Orchard Oriole along the
beach just west of the creek at the west edge of town. Earlier today, while
birding with Ryan Shaw, Linnaea Chapman, Brad & Dan Waggoner, and Charlie
Wright, there was a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher with a mixed flock at the base of
the jetty northwest of town. It called several times, confirming it as the
nominate, eastern race.

Other highlights included a Eurasian Wigeon in the Wa'atch River,
a Yellow-billed Loon circling over town, a Golden Eagle that caught a
Greater White-fronted Goose, migrating Sandhill Cranes, and several
Pink-footed Shearwaters. Also great views of several Gray Whales, Sea
Otters, and Coyotes.

Good birding,
Ryan Merrill
