Subject: [Tweeters] American Robin Group Roost?

Hello Tweets,
After my big success with Turkey Vultures on Sunday I've spent significant
amounts of time outside the last couple of days sitting quietly outside
looking and listening to the birds in and over my yard. The results have
been pretty interesting. Highlights include two sightings of a Merlin (one
time chasing a flock of Cedar Waxwings), a couple flyover Evening Grosbeaks
(only my second yard sighting), and 15 Turkey Vultures (besting my Sunday
count of 14).

Perhaps the most interesting phenomenon has been groups of American Robins.
In the daytime I've seen quite a few groups flying from place to place with
no consistent direction, but in the early evening (5-6:15pm) I've seen
loose groups of birds all flying north east from where my house sits near
the Lynnwood/Mountlake Terrace border. I didn't make an exact count,
unfortunately, but I'm sure it was over 100 birds over the course of 75
minutes, all flying in the exact same direction last night and a similar
thing happened the evening before. Additionally, I've seen large groups
(they seem to get larger later in the fall, from my recollection) move in
this direction in evening before. I'm curious if anyone knows of any reason
robins would be headed in the same direction each each evening in the fall?
Do they roost in communal roosts in the fall?
