Hi Tweets,

On the same trip, 4/12, to Whidbey Island that I saw the mass of Rhinoceros Auklets, I saw 4 juvenile Killdeer with their parents. They were about 1/3 the size of the parents and no question, they are just precious to watch. I got a charge of watching them all scurry to mom when a Northern Harrier drifted over and hide themselves under her body and wings. Still not sure how they all fit under her.

The location is in eBird or it was the last piece of flooded farm field about 1/2 mile east of Ebey?s Landing west of Coupeville. There was also a few Greater Yellowlegs and Dunlin in this muddy patch.
