Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 20. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On April 17 a female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK visited a feeder in Toledo. A
female COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD was reported April 14 coming to a feeder in
Eugene. Among a good movement off Spanish Head April 20 was a MANX-TYPE
SHEARWATER.

Heavy migrations during the week brought a heavy warbler movement. Mainly
YELLOW-RUMPED with some NASHVILLE, YELLOW, MACGILLIVRAY?S, WILSON?S and
HERMIT WARBLERS. Also moving were many CASSIN?S and WARBLING VIREOS. An
early flycatcher movement included PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS and WESTERN
KINGBIRDS. Western Oregon sightings of CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRDS were at cottage
Grove, Springfield, Larch Mountain east of Portland, and at Neahkanie on the
coast. The first main shorebird movement arrived during the week included
many WHIMBREL and MARBLED GODWITS. Many broods of CANADA GEESE were reported
during the week.

Early SWAINSON?S THRUSHES were reported April 15 at Corvallis and at Newport
April 16.

On April 18 a BULLOCK?S ORIOLE was at Broadbent east of Bandon. At Yaquina
Bay April 17 were two COMMON TERNS and noticeable movements of SAVANNAH
SPARROWS and PIPITS. Three WHITE PELICANS continue at the Fernhill Wetlands.
On April 20, 20 were over North Portland. A SWAINSON?S HAWK was
photographed April 18 Luckiamute SNA south of Independence. That day a
GOSHAWK was at Finley NWR. A bright male CASSIN?S FINCH was photographed
April 19 in Eugene. On April 20 an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was at the Merlin
Rest Stop along I5. A BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was near Talent April 16.
