I was surprised to get a Black-headed Grosbeak coming to my feeder yesterday evening (24 April). Location is on the Thurston County side of Totten Inlet west of Olympia. According to the graph in ?A Birders Guide to Washington, 2nd Edition? the date is at the very beginning of the species? ?Rare? period. They are plentiful here later in May.
