Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 28. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls a
503-292-6855.

On April 24 a WHITE WAGTAIL was seen at Hatfield Lake near Bend. It remained
thru the week allowing many photos to be taken. A possible CARACARA was
reported April 15 along I5 south of Salem.

A major migratory movement during the week brought most of the expected
species into the state. A conspicuous movement along the coast included
large numbers of SOOTY SHEARWATERS and PACIFIC LOONS. Heavy shorebird
movements during the week brought a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER, 400 WHIMBREL, 30
MARBLED GODWITS, and 30 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS to Wireless Road near Astoria
and SOLITARY SANDPIPERS to Dune City, Newport, and Eugene. A BAIRD?S
SANDPIPER was at Yaquina Bay April 21 and at Summer Lake April 22. On April
24 Two WHIMBRELS were along Glasser Drive near Lebanon

On April 25 a BREWER?S SPARROW was along the Lewis and Clark Road south of
Astoria. Two BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at the Tualatin NWR during the week.
Eight were at Baskett Slough NWR April 24. A flock of about 19 WHITE
PELICANS were seen all week in the wetlands near Gaston. A CALLIOPE
HUMMINGBIRD visited a feeder near Independence April 26.

That?s it for this week.
