Hi Kathy,

I live nearby in Queen Anne (Seattle). There have been House Finches in my neighborhood on a daily basis for a few weeks now, but no Purple Finches other than a couple of flybys.

Last summer I had house finches and what I thought were purple finches. Friend said they were all house finches. The house finches are back this year. Although I saw one today that I thought was a purple finch. It flew away before I could take its picture.

Maybe someone close by is feeding them - that did not last year, so they are going there instead. Or maybe there is/are some predator/s in the area. When my neighbors cat come on my deck, the birds disappear for a while.

Hi,

I am in Seattle in Fremont in the same house I have been in the last 30 years. This is the first year ever that there are no house finches or purple finches coming to the feeders. Usually I have several families visiting. Has anyone else noticed the same?

Kathy
