Just had a nice Martin morning here in Port Townsend. I needed it.
I started my day early, with a sense of trouble, being a sensitive kinda guy. My senses were soon confirmed when I got a way earlier than usual phone call from my dear ol' Mom asking for help with my Dad. " I'm having trouble with him". While that's nothing new in the last six decades, she was worried. They both have dementia - and still living at home is an increasingly dangerous situation for them. They are stubborn creatures - I hope they didn't get that from raising me, the notorious foot-dragger son.
Well, I drove the one minute over to their place and defused the situation. After an hour of that I felt like I had dizzy dementia myself. "I need to go to the beach immediately " I thought, and so I did. Good idea.
That's because in about one minute I was healed by Martins, which have recently returned to the nest boxes there at the Marine Science Center. The loud churring and blurbling sound of Martins was washing away my mental cobwebs. Like they say, "a Martin a day keeps the doctor away!"
Also good therapy, was seeing the ,not uncommon, Otter Show down at the dock- three of them this morning, one hauling out a fair-sized flounder from the bay.
On the way home, I checked out the Martin boxes at the PT marina entrance. Martin's there too. Neat. I may need more mental health help later in the day, and now know where I can find it.
