Hi Birders and Banders,

I've just uploaded the VARC spring/summer blog with all the activity from a very busy period of monitoring and banding at Colony Farm.

Included in this blog are a photo essay on hummingbird banding including photos of a white Anna's Hummingbird and a first for the station Calliope Hummingbird, an update on our special species study on Tree Swallow nesting behaviour using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology, notable captures including House Wren, Bullock's Oriole, Chipping Sparrow and 5 Lazuli Buntings, a near miss Yellow-breasted Chat and all of the new captures and retrap totals which saw more than 2,000 birds processed:
