Just returned from walking the dog at Black River Riparian Area, accessed from Monster Road in Renton. On the abundant mud visible from various viewpoints just upstream from the small parking pulloff, I found two (not-so) Solitary Sandpipers. Both are juveniles, neither cares much for the other?s company, but they did briefly hang out within a few feet of each other before one chased the other off. Only other shorebird present was a single Spotted Sandpiper. All three were still there when I left around 3:00.
