Having spent decades in the midwest I am impressed by the green coloring
of the west side garter snakes. Plainly a color variant, I still can't
help but wonder if this is a potential diversion leading to a new
species. The east and west side populations are isolated by a
mountainous ridge and occupy different climatic zones. Maybe a little
crystal ball gazing will inform. Hmmmm.
