Subject: [Tweeters] KVI Beach Baird's Sandpiper

Yesterday evening I found a Baird's Sandpiper associating with a couple of
Western and about ten Least Sandpipers at KVI Beach. I originally noticed
the flock on the Puget Sound shore about even with the north end of the pond
and then passers by scared the birds into the air and they settled in the
pond area. They seemed pretty flighty and later flew to the north but as I
was leaving I saw a group of similar size come back toward the pond from the
north.

While not that unusual for King County, observers notice Baird's Sandpiper
only every few years on Vashon.
