Hi Tweets,

Heather and I just returned from kayaking the Hatt Slough of the Stillaguamish River Delta, which was surprisingly hot out on the water. This was my first Long- billed Curlew for Warm Beach. Viewed by kayak on the west side of estuary with Canada Geese at a sloshy low 5', 4 pm high tide. Boat access is off of Marine View drive south of Stanwood. Bird seen at 2:30 pm. Large brown shorebird with long decurved bill. Spotted when it flashed orangy rufous underwings. Bill length about 3X width of head, with lower 2/3 of lower mandible pink curving down. Crown of head and side of head pale brown gray, no crown stripes. Back feather dark brown centered with fresh buffy edges. A juvenile.

Other shorebirds seen:
70 BB Plover
15 W Sandpiper
6 Least Sandpiper
12 Greater Yellowlegs
4 Killdeer
Plus a Peregrine Falcon also watching closely.

Good birding,
