Hi Tweets,

It is quite nice when the tides cooperate 2 days in a row for shorebirds by kayak. Today's high tide was still on the low side at 7' at the Stillaguamish Estuary, which made for some good shorebirding on the sand islands on the south side. We did go check out the west side again to look for yesterday's Long-billed Curlew, but tide to high for the spot.

What a difference a day can make at approximately the same time of the tide. Today we had:
550 Western Sandpipers vs. 25 and the same hunting Peregrine Falcon
1 Semipalmated Sandpiper
6 Semipalmated Plovers
3 Sanderlings with a bit of breeding plumage remaining
4 BAIRD'S Sandpipers near the Westerns, but tucked in the short reed area
8 Least Sandpiper
41 Greater & 6 Lesser Yellowlegs
65 Caspian Terns vs. 220

It was a great day to be on the water.

Good birding,
