I want to extend a huge "thank you" to all who posted about the Scissor
- Tailed Flycatcher near Othello. My partner and I drove over from
Longview last Saturday and got to see it on the wire exactly where
everyone had said it would be. We enjoyed it for a few minutes until it
flew off. We searched several more times for it on Saturday and also on
Sunday. We did not see it until we were headed home Sunday afternoon. It
was on a wire further down the road, and we got a much better viewing of
it, as the sun was not in our face as it had been on Saturday.

We so appreciate the willingness of people to share the great finds they
come across. In the last year (since we discovered the tweeters website)
we have seen several birds that are rare to areas, because of people
listing on this site and helping us to find the rare and unusual birds.

During our trip to and from Othello, we were also blessed to get to see
several Common Nighthawks in the trees at Vernita rest area. We had only
previously seen one Nighthawk on a pole in a hops field asleep. We got
an okay picture from that sighting, but on Saturday we got some awesome
pictures of at least 6 or 7 in varying stages of awareness. Some were
sleeping, some were preening, and others would fly from tree to tree. It
was really amazing to see them.

Again, thank you to all who take the time to share their bird sightings
with others on this site. You are appreciated
